The number of reps you perform in each set determines what your body adapts toward:

DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) is one of the most misunderstood experiences in fitness. Rep (Repetition)

Set
A group of consecutive reps performed without resting. If you do 10 push-ups, rest, then do 10 more, you have completed two sets of 10 reps.
HIIT

Progressive Overload

Compound Exercise

Isolation Exercise

The maximum rate at which your body can consume oxygen during intense exercise. It is a widely used measure of cardiovascular fitness, though it is more relevant to endurance athletes than to casual gym-goers.
Rest Period
The deliberate pause between sets or exercises. Rest length influences training outcome — shorter rests (30–60 seconds) tend to support endurance and calorie burn, while longer rests (2–3 minutes) support strength and power recovery.
Warm-Up
Low-intensity activity performed before the main workout to gradually raise heart rate, increase blood flow to muscles, and reduce injury risk. Dynamic stretches and light cardio are common warm-up methods.
Cool-Down
Gentle movement and static stretching done after a workout to help the heart rate return to normal and reduce post-exercise muscle soreness and stiffness.
DOMS
Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness — the muscle ache that typically peaks 24–72 hours after an unfamiliar or intense workout. It is a normal response to exercise stress and generally fades as fitness improves.
RPE
Rate of Perceived Exertion — a subjective scale (commonly 1–10) used to self-assess workout intensity. An RPE of 5 feels moderately challenging; an RPE of 9 feels near-maximal effort.
